Vietnam War Veteran Frank Romeo Shares Vietnam War Veteran Frank Romeo Shares "The Experience of the American Solider" with SHS Juniors: SKANEATELES, NY (March 19, 2019) – Vietnam War Veteran Frank Romeo is walking from Buffalo, NY to New York City, advocating for PTSD awareness and veterans’ issues.  While on his journey, Romeo stopped to visit Skaneateles High School on Monday afternoon where he talked to SHS Juniors about his experiences and his ground-breaking new curriculum, “The Experience of the American Soldier.”   For 30 years Romeo has traveled the country teaching and advocating for PTSD awareness at the educational level. One of the longest living survivors of the war diagnosed with 100% PTSD, Romeo feels his message of pre-education before military service will help build a strong country and help our veterans when they return to deal with today’s social issues.   ...

Each grade level, 6-8, was split into five separate groups with the opportunity to sit down with ten different high school students who shared their personal experiences with the hopes that these student driven conversations would resonate with greater importance. Community Forum/Budget Update on March 28 at 7 p.m. Community Forum/Budget Update on March 28 at 7 p.m.: The Skaneateles Central School District will be holding a Community Forum on Thursday, March 28 inside the Skaneateles High School Auditorium at 7 p.m. The Forum will feature a preview of the 2019-2020 Budget and a look at the Budget process moving forward through the Budget vote on Tuesday, May 21. Lakers Girls Swimming & Diving Raises Money for Vera House Lakers Girls Swimming & Diving Raises Money for Vera House: The Skaneateles Lakers Girls Swimming and Diving team would like to thank the community and family members who sponsored them for the tread-a-thon this fall.  Through our efforts, the team was able to raise $1500 that was donated to Vera House.  Vera House was very touched by the gracious donation and will be able to help 3000 adults and children this year with the donation.  The mission of the Lakers swim team is that strong women are helping other strong women keep their heads above water, and with the support of the community, this has happened.  Thank you! The Lakers will take on Webster Thomas in the Semi-Final at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 9. SHS Students & Teachers Attend First Amendment-First Vote Event in Seneca Falls SHS Students & Teachers Attend First Amendment-First Vote Event in Seneca Falls: SKANEATELES, NY (February 27, 2019) – A group of Skaneateles High School students and teachers recently visited the Women’s Rights National Historic Park in Seneca Falls, NY for the First Amendment-First Vote Conference Day.   First Amendment-First Vote is an inclusive, non-partisan civic engagement program designed to encourage high school girls in grade 9-12 to actively participate in the political process.   The group of SHS girls in attendance learned in great detail about the 1 st and 19 th amendments guaranteed in the US Constitution and the role each amendment played in securing greater gender equity for women.    The conference also provided insight on the ERA, achieving gender parity in elected offices, and gave students the chance to ...
