SHS Drama to Present SHS Drama to Present "Les Miserables" this Weekend: Skaneateles High School Drama is set to present "Les Miserables" beginning on February 28 and running through March 3. Below is the performance schedule: Thursday, February 28: 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 1: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2: 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 3: 2 p.m. General admission tickets will be sold at the door of every performance.  Reserved tickets are available online at www.SHOWTIX4U.com. Tickets are $12/Adults and $10/Students and Senior Citizens. On Wednesday, at 3:00 pm, Senior Citizens are invited to attend the final dress rehersal of Les Mis, free of charge. A dessert reception at intermission will also be offered.
Annual SHS Blood Drive on February 28 to Honor Sam Ciraolo Annual SHS Blood Drive on February 28 to Honor Sam Ciraolo: SKANEATELES, NY (February 15, 2019) – The annual Skaneateles High School Blood Drive is set for Thursday, February 28, honoring former SHS Health teacher, Sam Ciraolo. The drive will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Skaneateles High School gym.   All representing donors will receive a free t-shirt. Permission slips are needed for students to donate. State Street Fourth Grade Participates in State Street Fourth Grade Participates in "I Love Math" Day: State Street fourth graders took part in the "I Love Math" celebration yesterday afternoon to help build a positive math community through problem solving. Teams collaborated to solve three low floor, high ceiling problems. A low floor, high ceiling problem is accessible to all students, but can also? be extended to high levels of learning. The goals of the program are to create persistent problem solvers and develop and encourage a love of math. Students spent 20-minue ses sions in three stations: Station 1: YouCubed My Heart Station 2: Pattern Block Hearts Station 3: Fibonacci Valentines Everyone then gathered back together in the Math Lab for a closing summary presentation.    
Waterman Students Celebrate 100 Days Waterman Students Celebrate 100 Days: Waterman Primary School celebrated 100 days today during morning meeting. The official 100th day of school is February 26, but this made for a fun-filled celebration on our last day before break. Fun!        
SCS Students Represent Skaneateles in Symphoria Youth Orchestra SCS Students Represent Skaneateles in Symphoria Youth Orchestra:   SKANEATELES, NY (February 14, 2019) – A pair of Skaneateles Central Schools students represented Skaneateles on Sunday, February 10 as members of the Symphoria Youth Winter Orchestra, which took place inside the Crouse Hinds Concert Theater. The Symphoria Youth Orchestra is comprised of some of the best young musicians in Central New York including Josh Pickup and Massimo Capozza of Skaneateles Central Schools. The group plays some of the most diverse musical selections featuring the winner of the Symphoria Youth Orchestras Concerto Competition, Sonia Richman, and the Symphoria Youth Repertory Orchestra playing side-by-side with Symphoria musicians.  Our very own, Karen Veverka, conducts ...

High School's AP Chill Zone Provides Relaxation, Stress Relief High School's AP Chill Zone Provides Relaxation, Stress Relief:
High School students spent their Activity Period in the “AP Chill Zone” on Thursday. Over 30 students filled the Counseling Center for this month’s theme of giving back. They hand-crafted Valentines for our Kindergarten classes, and enjoyed pizza and prizes with their friends. Future AP Chill Zone events will provide students with useful tools and tips in a variety of areas such as relaxation, stress relief, social skills, and more!

'Star of the Week' Welcomes K-9 Unit to Waterman 'Star of the Week' Welcomes K-9 Unit to Waterman: Second grade student William Clancy was the "Star of the Week" in Joanne Williams' classroom. His wish was to invite his relative, State Trooper T.J. McDonnell in to visit the second graders and tell them about his work with the K9 unit. Trooper McDonnell visited Waterman to share what he and his dog Mic do as community helpers. Trooper McDonnell discussed the role of his trained search and rescue dog, and how he and Mic help his community. This visit was not only fun and interesting, but it also supports the second grade curriculum as students have begun learning about communities, community helpers and identifying those who provide a service or who are a producer of goods. SCSD Forum Provides Updates on Project 2021, Safety & Security SCSD Forum Provides Updates on Project 2021, Safety & Security: SKANEATELES, NY (February 5, 2019) – The Skaneateles Central School District held a Community Forum on Wednesday, January 30 inside the high school’s auditorium hosted by Superintendent of Schools, Lynda Quick.   The Forum addressed several items within the district including updates on Project 2021, safety & security, as well as the fiscal status of the district.   Project 2021, the district’s $36.5 million capital improvement project approved by community members in November of 2017, received approval from the State Education Department for its Phase 1 plans in January of 2019.  With that approval, the project will go to bid in February of this year with work estimated to be completed during the summer of 2019.   Phase 1 will see work ...

CNY Innovation Challenge Open to Students in Grades 6-12 CNY Innovation Challenge Open to Students in Grades 6-12: SKANEATELES, NY (January 28, 2019) – The second annual CNY Innovation Challenge is looking for students in grades 6-12 to take part in this year’s idea development challenge, which will see over $2,500 in prizes awarded for winning teams.   The CNY Innovation Challenge aims to spark ideas to develop groundbreaking products or services and to foster entrepreneurship.   This challenge is designed to help guide ideas from concept to completion.  The process includes a crucial step – documenting intellectual property to protect concepts that could be used in a patent application.  Teams will then learn strategies to advance their idea and take a product/service to market.  In addition to designing and developing an idea, students will need to ...
