Middle School Student Council Shopping Spree Celebrates 25th Year

More than 70 students from the Skaneateles Middle School Student Council participated in the 25th Annual Holiday Shopping Spree at the Walmart in Camillus Dec. 4.

The students split up into groups with adult volunteers to spend close to $20,000 on toys and other goods for various organizations throughout the region. A portion of the money is raised by the student council, Walmart contributed another $3,000, and the rest came from donations.

The organizations who received gifts this year include:

• Peace Incorporated

• East Hill Elementary 

• Hillside

• Skaneateles Outreach

• Make a Wish

• Casey's Place

• Advocates Inc.

• Franklin Elementary

• Skaneateles District

• Van Duyne Elementary

• Seneca Street Elementary

• Minoa Elementary

• Dr. King Elementary

• Upstate Pediatric Hospital

• Clinton Kindness Closet
