State Street Fourth Graders Enjoy NYS Cookie Day State Street Fourth Graders Enjoy NYS Cookie Day: Halloween was a busy day at State Street Intermediate School! Wednesday was New York State Cookie Making Day for the 4th grade as students worked on decorating their own NYS cookie. Students used various decorative snacks to make their own NYS cookie, filled with area mountain ranges, rivers, lakes and more. Special thanks to the PTC for their help with this event as well as Mike's Pizzeria for providing 100 pizza boxes to use as carriers for our cookies.        
Warm Clothing Drive: The Positivity Project in Action Warm Clothing Drive: The Positivity Project in Action: The Positivity Project in action! The Elementary PTC is organizing a clothing drive for warm clothing for students in Syracuse. Starting November 13th, you can bring any gently used or new items of clothing to the District Office at 45 East Elizabeth Street. Between the hours of 7:30-4:00 pm you will able to drop off outer wear, boots, warm clothing, hats and mittens - anything that our friends in Syracuse might need to keep them warm and cozy this winter. In the meantime, take a look at the awesome video below, explaining the project. Football Returns to the Carrier Dome, Boys X-Country Wins League Meet Football Returns to the Carrier Dome, Boys X-Country Wins League Meet: SKANEATELES, NY (November 1, 2018) – As the calendar turns to November the Skaneateles High School football team is heading right back where they want to be.   The Carrier Dome. Following a dominating victory over V-V-S last Friday, which saw Skaneateles cruise to a 47-13 win, the Lakers return to the Carrier Dome this Saturday to take on Cazenovia in the Section 3 Class B Championship. The championship final will take place at 3 p.m. Last week, the Skaneateles Boys Cross Country team ran to the OHSL Liberty League Championship for the first time in several years.   The Lakers bested Hannibal, Westhill, CBA and Chittenango for the championship. Haunted Hallways Set for Wednesday Evening Haunted Hallways Set for Wednesday Evening: Ahoy Mateys! Get ready for a Pirate Adventure as Haunted Hallways returns celebrating a decade of "spooking" our community. Our High School Interact Club will present the Pirate themed adventure on Halloween night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the high school. Please use the Commons entrance only. The Skaneateles Rotary Club will once again greet you with Cider and Donuts. There is no charge, but donations are welcome. Proceeds will go to hurricane victims through a District Relief Fund set up by The Rotary Foundation to assist communities in the hardest hit districts in North Carolina and Florida.
Sectionals Continue for Skaneateles High School Athletics Sectionals Continue for Skaneateles High School Athletics: SKANEATELES, NY (October 25, 2018) – Sectional contests continue for Skaneateles High School athletics, including Class B Semi-Final action for the Varsity Football team on Friday. The undefeated Lakers take on Vernon-Verona-Sherrill on Friday at 5 p.m. at Fayetteville Manlius.   Averaging 48.3 points per game, the Lakers have turned heads in their return to Class B this season.   If the Lakers win, they will take on either Cazenovia or Oneida in the Class B Championship at the Syracuse University Carrier Dome. Every member of the Girls’ Swimming & Diving Lakers qualified for the Class C Sectionals.   Skaneateles will host the Sectional meet on November 2 at 5 p.m. in the Skaneateles YMCA. Skaneateles Rotary Presents Dictionary & Thesaurus to Third Grade Skaneateles Rotary Presents Dictionary & Thesaurus to Third Grade: SKANEATELES, NY (October 25, 2018) – Members of the Skaneateles Rotary Club presented the third grade classes of State Street Elementary School with a copy of the latest Webster’s Dictionary & Thesaurus for Students on Tuesday morning.   The books were once again provided by local Rotarians as part of the Rotary’s efforts to enhance literacy skills worldwide.   Skaneateles Rotary Club President, Bill Conole, presented each student in the third grade class with their new dictionary & thesaurus.     Fellow Rotarian, Ward Vuillemot, joined Conole for the presentations.   Vuillemot started the Dictionary and Thesaurus program ten years ago.   “I ...

Reading sessions began last week a nd will continue through this week.

Boys & Girls Soccer, Football in Sectionals this Week Boys & Girls Soccer, Football in Sectionals this Week: There will be two home sectional games this week as Boys Soccer takes on Mexico on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and Football takes on Chittenango on Friday at 7 p.m. Girls Soccer will be in sectional action this week on the road versus Chittenango on Thursday at 6 p.m. GO LAKERS!        
SHS Students Experience Visual & Performing Arts in NYC SHS Students Experience Visual & Performing Arts in NYC: SKANEATELES, NY (October 15, 2018) – For the fourth year, Skaneateles High School students traveled to New York City for a one of a kind experience in visual and performing arts. From October 5-7, Skaneateles High School teachers Jessica Sawchuk, Aisha McConochy, Lauren Wiese and Kate Webster guided students in grades 10-12 through the Big Apple to a host of different venues. The group visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art, saw Wicked on Broadway, watched students films at the AMC Theater in Times Square and spent time at the 9/11 museum. “This trip is meant to inspire students by experiencing the visual and performing arts in a multitude of ways and to see, first hand, the diversity, history and beauty of New York City,” said Sawchuk.   ...

SCS Takes Part in Fire Prevention Week SCS Takes Part in Fire Prevention Week: SKANEATELES, NY (October 10, 2018) - Skaneateles Central Schools are taking part in Fire Prevention Week from October 7-13, with students in Waterman Primary School learning from local firefighters. Today, Waterman first graders not only learned about smoke detectors and detector maintenance, but also had a chance to see two firefighters dress in full gear.  The Skaneateles Firefighters stressed the importance of trusting your local firefighters and not being frightened of their gear or their arrival.  They are coming to help you in the event you cannot escape on your own. SMS Student Council Completes Successful Drive Thru Fundraiser SMS Student Council Completes Successful Drive Thru Fundraiser: SKANEATELES, NY (October 9, 2018) – The Skaneateles Middle School Student Council presented its 18 th annual Dinosaur BBQ, Gianelli Sausage Drive-Thru Fundraiser on Wednesday, October 3 in front of Skaneateles Middle School. Yet another successful fundraiser featured a menu including a Gianelli Sausage with peppers and onions, a Dinosaur BBQ pulled pork sandwich, and a Carolina Sandwich with pulled pork topped with coleslaw. Each dinner choice came with Dinosaur BBQ style baked beans, coleslaw, chips, and soda or water for only $9. Proceeds from the fundraiser go toward Student Council operations costs, the Student Council’s Holiday Shopping Spree, and other events throughout the school.
